Krummhorn

The register known as "Krummhorn" in a pipe organ is a reed stop that produces a distinctive and nasal tone. It is designed to imitate the sound of the historical woodwind instrument called the crumhorn. The pipes of the Krummhorn are made of metal. The shape of the pipes is cylindrical with a tight circumfence. The Krummhorn stop is often used to provide a unique and expressive color in the organ's tonal palette. It can add a touch of historical character and be utilized for solo passages, melodic lines, or to imitate the distinctive and slightly quirky qualities of the crumhorn instrument.
